Shortly after the initial release of the 996 Turbo, Porsche released several special edition Turbo models, the X50 package and the rear-wheel drive GT2. Both cars feature slightly larger turbochargers, upgraded intercoolers, and a re-mapped ECU for a combined increased in horsepower of over 10% in comparison to the standard 911 Turbo. With the upgraded hardware components in place, custom ECU reprogramming from ECU can push power output to well over 525 horsepower. In addition to the substantial power increase, GIAC software also provides dramatically increased boost response, pedal feel, and overall engine performance.
